Volunteers were asked to rate their overall satisfaction with their volunteering experience, as well as specific aspects.
All volunteers awarded a maximum score of 10 out of 10 for overall satisfaction, and all other elements were rated good or higher.
Aspects most frequently rated excellent were communication with staff and trustees, the advice and support provided, and the recognition received from staff or trustees.
100% of our members have reported that they have seen improved mental health, 56% have seen an improvement in physical health and 94.44% have attributed us to improving both self-esteem and self-confidence.
The evaluation also showed that we have strong engagement and sustained involvement, high satisfaction and deep personal value and significant personal impact together with meaningful community impact.

The largest area of value comes from improved mental health, where members report reduced anxiety, improved mood, and greater resilience. This is followed by improved physical health, driven by increased activity levels and routine. The Shed also plays a critical role in reducing loneliness — a major public health challenge — and encourages regular volunteering, strengthening community participation.
